LPA-CGR avocats advised the Orano Group on its signature on 29 October 2021 with Geodis, a subsidiary of the SNCF Group, of an agreement for the acquisition by Orano Nuclear Packages and Services (Orano NPS) of Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de Transports Sp\u00e9ciaux Industriels (STSI), which specialises in the multimodal transport of sensitive materials, in particular the rail and road transport of nuclear materials.<\/p>\n
With more than 75 years of activity in this field and around 60 employees, STSI is a key player in handling exceptional shipments and a specialist in sensitive transport, mainly in France and Belgium. This acquisition by Orano NPS will provide STSI with opportunities for development in France and also internationally, where it is already present, mainly through its freight forwarding business.<\/p>\n
This project is part of the Orano Group’s strategy to strengthen its competencies in its core businesses. By acquiring rail equipment and new operational bases in France and Belgium, Orano NPS is demonstrating its desire to develop its low-carbon transport offer.<\/p>\n
The two companies are already working together as some of Orano NPS‘ transports, especially rail, are already organised and carried out by STSI.<\/p>\n
As a result of this acquisition, Orano NPS will be able to offer its customers in France and Europe an optimised, broader and more integrated range of transport services.<\/p>\n
With this third project in less than a year and a half, LPA-CGR avocats having also advised Orano on the other transactions, the Orano Group is pursuing its development strategy through targeted acquisitions. It confirms its leading role among the players in the nuclear industry.<\/p>\n
