LPA-CGR avocats continues its expansion in Asia by opening its doors in Singapore.

LPA-CGR avocats continues its expansion in Asia by opening its doors in Singapore.

Already present in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Dubai, in putting down roots in Singapore, LPA-CGR avocats becomes the first French business law firm covering all the major Asian financial markets.

Arnaud Bourrut-Lacouture and Bérengère Roig, founding partners of the new office, join LPA-CGR avocats, won over by the firm’s international strategy and the numerous synergies to be leveraged.

Based in Singapore since 2013 and 2014 respectively, the two lawyers are fully familiar with the local and regional markets. They focus primarily on equity capital transactions, M&A, private equity and joint venture transactions in various sectors, including technology, energy, real estate and commodities.

Singapore is home to a number of companies and investors from France, as well as from the Benelux countries, Spain, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Its location also enables them to radiate outwards to the former Indochina zone, a fast-developing region that is very open to law firms steeped in French culture and tradition: Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, which are civil law countries.

The objective of this new office is to advise French and foreign clients on their corporate and investment transactions in Singapore and its neighboring countries. LPA-CGR avocats’ local teams will also advise their clients on their overall legal issues (tax and wealth management, IP/IT, employment law, etc.) with the backing, in certain cases, of the Paris platform and other teams based in Asia.

Arnaud Bourrut-Lacouture is delighted with this alliance: “Teaming up with LPA-CGR avocats, which enjoys a strong international footprint, particularly in Asia, quickly became the obvious course. We share the same vision of an international approach that is based on strong knowledge of the local economic fabric and must be cross-practice and multidisciplinary.”

Martine Blanck-Dap, president of the board of LPA-CGR avocats, explains: “The France-Singapore Year of Innovation was officially launched on 22 January this year, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between our two countries. There are numerous synergies between France and high-growth countries in Asia. We are part of this dynamic! Singapore is an excellent entryway for our clients and was obviously a key part of our strategy.  We are thrilled with this new prospect for development, exchange and sharing.”

With this 11th office, LPA-CGR avocats furthers its international ambitions and asserts its leadership in Asia as an international, and at the same time culturally French, law firm.
