LPA Law at the G7 Lawyers’ Meeting in Paris

Kosuke Oie, Partner at LPA Tokyo, proudly participated in the recent G7 Lawyers’ Meeting (G7 des Avocats) held in Paris at the Conseil national des barreaux (CNB – French National Bar Council), followed by visits to the Élysée Palace and the French National Assembly, alongside leading representatives of the legal profession and institutional stakeholders from G7 countries.

The meeting brought together bar leaders from France, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, and the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), reflecting a shared commitment to addressing the most pressing challenges facing the legal profession and democratic institutions.

Discussions focused on key democratic priorities, including strengthening trust in justice systems and democratic institutions, combating misinformation and hate speech, and addressing the growing challenges of foreign interference in the digital age. Broader exchanges also highlighted structural issues affecting the legal profession, such as the rise of artificial intelligence, the increasing pressure on the rule of law, and the protection of lawyers and judges in an evolving global environment.

On the occasion of the meetings, the delegation was received at both the Élysée Palace and the National Assembly, where discussions with institutional representatives further explored the role of justice in preserving democratic balance, pluralism of ideas, and public trust, particularly among younger generations.

At LPA Law, we are honoured to contribute to these high-level exchanges. Our firm remains firmly committed to supporting initiatives that protect the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote international legal cooperation.
