Webinar | Legal liability for cybersecurity risks in supply chains: lessons from court precedents

LPA Tokyo is pleased to announce that Yoshiki Tsurumaki, Partner and Head of Japanese Law Practice, will speak at the online seminar “Legal liability for cybersecurity risks in supply chains: lessons from court precedents”, to be held in Japanese on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

The seminar, co-hosted by Abitus and Tokio Marine & Nichido Partners Tokio, will examine a Tokyo District Court judgment dated 13 October 2020 concerning the leakage of credit card information through a payment module used on an e-commerce website. It will address practical issues such as the allocation of liability between clients and vendors, the scope of cybersecurity obligations, and whether obligations not expressly stipulated in the contract may nevertheless be recognized.

This talk will also cover recent developments in cybersecurity assessment frameworks for supply chains, as well as internal control and internal audit measures that companies should consider implementing.
