LPA Tokyo strengthens its Japan practice with the arrival of Yoshiki Tsurumaki as Partner
LPA Tokyo is pleased to announce the arrival of Yoshiki Tsurumaki as Partner in its Corporate and M&A practice. This appointment marks a major milestone for the continued development of the Tokyo office, while also strengthening LPA Law’s presence in Japan and across Asia. It further reinforces the firm’s capacity to advise clients on the most complex Japanese domestic and cross-border transactions, cementing its position as a leading international law firm in the region. Yoshiki’s arrival also forms part of LPA Tokyo’s broader strategic development and its continued adaptation to the growing demand in the Japanese market for sophisticated M&A, investment and projects-related legal expertise.
With more than 23 years of experience in Japanese and international law, Yoshiki is widely recognised for his expertise in corporate and business law. His practice covers M&A — both domestic and cross-border — finance, capital markets, corporate venture capital investment, ESG investment, data centre, real estate, general corporate and dispute resolution. His deep knowledge of the Japanese legal and business environment, combined with extensive experience advising on transactions involving Japan and other Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, including Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore, positions him as a key asset for clients operating across Asia.
Prior to joining LPA, Yoshiki was a partner at King & Wood, an Asia-based international law firm, where he played a leading role in the Japanese law practice of Tokyo office. He began his career at Atsumi & Sakai as a lawyer after gaining significant in-house experience at NTT Data Corporation and through a secondment to Mitsubishi Securities (now Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities). He also practised in New York at Dewey & LeBoeuf following the completion of his LL.M. at Vanderbilt University Law School. A graduate of Waseda University, Yoshiki Tsurumaki brings a strong understanding of both Japanese and international legal environments, enabling him to effectively support clients in their strategic development and complex transactions. He is a prolific author and speaker, regularly contributing to leading legal publications and presenting at high-profile forums across Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Within the Tokyo office, he will lead the Japanese law practice and actively contribute to strengthening synergies with LPA Law’s other offices across Europe and Asia.
“The Japanese M&A landscape is undergoing structural change, with rising inbound FDI, an increasingly active private equity market and growing demand for sophisticated cross-border advice — particularly between Japan and Europe. LPA Law offers a distinctive platform to address this demand: a leading French firm with a genuinely integrated Asian network, well positioned to serve both Japanese companies expanding internationally and foreign investors entering Japan. I look forward to leading the Japanese law practice in Tokyo and working closely with colleagues across LPA’s offices to provide practical, business-oriented advice on our clients’ most strategic transactions,” said Yoshiki Tsurumaki.
Lionel Vincent, Managing Partner of LPA Tokyo commented: “Yoshiki’s arrival is a landmark moment for LPA Tokyo. His exceptional track record in M&A, finance and technology law, combined with his profound understanding of the Japanese market and his experience advising Japanese companies on stock exchange matters, complex domestic and cross-border transactions across Asia, perfectly complements the expertise of our team. We are delighted to welcome him as a partner and are convinced that his joining will significantly enhance our ability to better serve our clients — both Japanese companies with international ambitions and foreign investors seeking to enter or expand in Japan.”
Yoshiki’s arrival strengthens LPA Tokyo’s position as a go-to firm for clients navigating Japan-related transactions, and further supports LPA Law’s broader development strategy and Asia platform across the region.
We are pleased to welcome him aboard!
